About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 28 September 2026Preußenhafen is a rest stop for water travellers on the Datteln-Hamm Canal in Lünen, featuring a 70-metre-long and up to 11-metre-wide berthing platform for motorboats on the eastern shore, just 70 cm above the water, with attached floating pontoons at 23 cm clearance, suitable for kayaks and canoes. Additional berths are available on the western shore, and stays in the harbour are generally limited to 72 hours.
The harbour house on the eastern shore is open Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-15:00 (closed Mondays, or by arrangement with the harbourmaster). At the quay you'll find supply bollards for shore power, a freshwater bunkering station, and a pump-out station for holding tanks. A boat davit can launch smaller motor yachts up to about 10 tonnes.
The harbour house offers toilets with showers, a drying room and a washing-up area, plus a kiosk with a snack bar. The distinctive Mohrkran, operational from 1964 to 1996 on the western shore, stands as a regional landmark and orientation point at canal kilometre 14.1.
A 4-6 metre wide canal promenade lined with lime trees and lighting runs all the way around the harbour basin, serving as a starting point for cycling trips into Lünen's town centre or the surrounding sights. Berth at the eastern platform and step straight into the harbour house for supplies.
