About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Sandvik harbour sits in the middle of Öland's Stone Coast, on the island's north-western side facing the Kalmar Strait. Originally a fishing hamlet and a shipping point for quarried stone, it now serves as a small, cosy guest harbour operated by Borgholm Municipality.
Payment is by card or Swish to the harbourmaster, and your ticket must be purchased after 11:00 — the code to the service building changes daily, and buying before 11:00 gets you yesterday's code. Stay six consecutive nights and the seventh is free.
The service building offers 6 toilets, one of them accessible, plus 5 showers. Wi-Fi is available throughout the harbour, and a laundry room with dryer costs 50 SEK but must be booked in advance. Both toilet-tank pump-out and grey-water emptying are available, along with a boat ramp, though there is no proper slipway. Diesel can be bunkered right at the harbour, with petrol available at the nearby ICA store. Water and electricity are also provided at the facility.
A lovely bathing beach lies right by the harbour, ideal for families with small children, and you can dine at several nearby restaurants, including Sandvik Hamnkrog & Glassbar. The landmark Sandviks Kvarn — one of the largest Dutch-style windmills in the Nordic region — towers over the harbour and houses both a café and a restaurant. Within walking distance you'll also find an ICA grocery store, bike rental, a playground and a pleasant parking area.
