About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Halden Gjestehavn is a self-service guest marina right in the centre of Halden, at the foot of Fredriksten fortress, with berths lying in the Iddefjorden. The marina is run by Halden Havnevesen, which also manages the municipal boat berths and the town's commercial harbour.
There is no advance booking of berths in the guest marina, and payment is made on arrival at a machine located just outside the service house on the pier; the receipt gives you an access code to the self-service facility building. The marina also sets aside a number of free short-stay berths for visitors who just want to shop, dine, or take a stroll through town. Note that the mooring by the Tista senter shopping centre in the town river Tista has a clearance of 3.0 m at mean water level, unsuitable for taller boats.
The marina has a service house with showers and toilets, plus a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. There is a pump-out station for boat sewage, fresh water and shore power at all docks, and fuel available. The marina further offers a crane/mast crane, a chandlery, a grocery shop/kiosk, a café, a restaurant, parking, and a playground for children.
From here it's a short walk to shops, a bakery, a hotel and restaurants in central Halden, and only about a 20-minute walk up to Fredriksten fortress, which offers activities for the whole family. Berth up in the heart of Halden and explore the town and fortress on foot.
