About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 28 September 2026Sporthafen Düsternbrook is one of Kiel's sports marinas, beautifully situated in the old 1936 Olympic harbour along the Kiellinie promenade, close to the Kieler Yacht Club, the state parliament and the ministries. The marina has around 300 berths in the water plus a few ashore, is sheltered from all wind directions and has a water depth of 2-4 metres. Maximum boat length is 24 metres, and the harbour comprises four basins with access from the east. Entry at the Blücherbrücke south of the marina is straightforward around the clock; at night you first follow the lit fairway towards Kiel before turning at right angles into the entrance. Guest berths are allocated solely by the harbour masters and cost from €12.00 per day for boats up to 6 metres, rising with length up to €75.00 for boats over 30 metres; after 5 full days a day's discount is given. Shore power, fresh water and waste disposal are available at the pontoons, all free of charge. The marina offers toilets, showers, a mast crane, bicycle hire and WiFi, as well as a slipway. On site you'll also find a restaurant and a supermarket. The famous Kiellinie promenade begins right at the marina, leading past the state parliament and ministries through the newly landscaped castle park straight into the heart of Kiel's old town - about a 30-minute walk, or 10 minutes by bus line 41/42 from the Kiellinie stop right at the harbour.
