About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Bassin Joinville is one of two basins in the busy marina and fishing harbour of Courseulles-sur-Mer in Calvados, Normandy, at the mouth of the river Seulles. Together with the adjoining Bassin Plaisance, the harbour holds more than 750 berths and serves both leisure boats and a small fishing fleet.
Entry to Bassin Joinville is via a lock gate/swing bridge, with an entrance width of around 9 metres and a depth of roughly 2.5 metres at normal water levels. The harbour monitors VHF channel 9. Visiting yachts are received in Bassin Joinville at pontoon N south and at the pontoon ends, and the harbour is run by the departmental operator Ports du Calvados, with seasonal opening hours at the harbour office.
On the pontoons you'll find shore power and fresh water, and the harbour offers toilets and showers, waste sorting, and pump-out for black and grey water. There is a laundry near the market square, a fuel berth in the outer harbour, a paid slipway for launching, and a boatyard/chandlery offering hull-cleaning facilities.
The harbour is close to the beach, the town centre and a park, making it easy to explore Courseulles-sur-Mer on foot or by bike. A daily fish market with freshly landed catch takes place on Quai des Alliés, and the historic Juno Beach Centre, commemorating D-Day, lies along the channel. Moor up in Bassin Joinville and discover the town's fish market and seaside life while your boat rests safely alongside.
