About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Herrvik is a lively fishing harbour and marina on Östergarnslandet, on Gotland's east coast, about 5 km east of Katthammarsvik and southwest of the small island of Östergarnsholm. The modern harbour with breakwaters was built in 1925-1929 and rebuilt in 1983-84, when it was equipped with a deep-water quay and a marina.
The harbour has 12 guest berths as well as 8 permanent recreational boat berths. A free boat ramp (about 3 metres wide) is located in the southern part of the harbour. Access to facilities is via a card topped up with credit from the harbour host, and you can reach Visby directly from Herrvik by local bus line 41.
On the pontoons you will find toilets, showers and a laundry room, as well as shore power and a waste station. Herrvik remains an active fishing harbour with a small boatyard, and by the harbour you'll find a harbour tavern serving meals, while the café Herrviks Brygga offers coffee, ice cream and waffles.
Within walking distance you'll find several attractions: a motor museum with well-preserved steam, hot-bulb and diesel engines, the Albatross museum, and the Rodarve museum in an old limestone farmhouse. There is also an art gallery in the harbour, and kayaks are available for rent. A few kilometres away lies Sandviken, one of Gotland's finest sandy beaches. Moor up in Herrvik and experience the charming mix of active fishing life and maritime history.
