Jachthaven Lutsmond

Jachthaven Lutsmond is a marina on the Sleatemar, a branch of the Luts river, in the southwest of Friesland in the municipality of De Fryske Marren, right by the cosy sailing village of Balk. The marina offers berths for pleasure craft up to about 12 metres and is surrounded by characteristic villages such as Wijckel, Harich, Oudemirdum, Rijs and the fortified town of Sloten.

From the marina you sail straight out onto the Slotermeer, part of the large Frisian lake system, and via Woudsend and Sloten the whole lake district lies open to you. The marina has plenty of guest berths, and the harbour masters don't take reservations – but it's always worth calling ahead to check for space. If your boat is taller than 2.20 metres, take note, as the bridge further along is low, and Balk is a popular destination. Boats up to 12 tonnes can also be lifted by crane.

The marina has drinking water and shore power at the berths, plus sanitary facilities with toilets, showers and a laundrette. There is also parking and wifi, and you can relax barefoot in the grass. Bicycles can be rented in Balk.

Balk's cosy town centre is within walking distance, with shops, restaurants and cultural attractions, and from there you can enjoy beautiful day trips through the rolling Gaasterland landscape.
