Marina Garnwerd is located at Garnwerd aan Zee on the standing mast route between Groningen and Lauwersoog, a waterway with around 7,500 passages a year on the Reitdiep. The marina serves as a convenient stopover on the way to the Frisian lakes or the Wadden Sea, and visiting yachts can moor at modern berths with wide finger pontoons.

The marina is open from 15 April to 15 October inclusive. Berthing costs €2.00 per metre, which includes water, electricity and wifi. All berths are fitted with a 16-amp shore power connection.

The marina has a toilet building with toilets, showers (€1.50 per token) and a laundry with a washing machine (€6.00) and dryer (€4.00). There is a free wifi hotspot, and drinking water can be taken on directly at the marina. The harbourmaster can also arrange bicycle rental on request.

Right next to the marina, on the restaurant side of the bridge, is restaurant Garnwerd aan Zee, open every day from 10:00 to 23:59 with the kitchen serving from 17:00 to 21:00 (shorter on weekdays). Moor at the berths on the restaurant side of the bridge and step ashore to enjoy the waterside setting at Garnwerd.
