About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Kyrkosund is a guest harbour at the southern tip of Sydkoster in Strömstad municipality, in the heart of the Bohuslän archipelago. It is a charming natural harbour with old boathouses and wooden jetties, giving it a picturesque setting facing out towards the archipelago. It is a popular fishing harbour with limited capacity during the high season.
Booking and payment are handled through the hamnsystem.se platform: guests moor at a free berth and then follow the instructions to pay online, after which the harbourmaster can check occupancy from anywhere via a webcam. Be aware that southerly winds blow strongly here, though boats lie safely behind the breakwater.
At the pontoons you'll find shore power, toilets and a playground. There is also a beach right next to the breakwater. If it gets too windy on that beach, you can walk or cycle to Kilesand about one kilometre away – a long, fine sandy beach facing east and sheltered from the southwest.
Within walking distance you'll find a child-friendly beach close to the guest harbour, bike rental through Kostercykeln, a boat connection to Strömstad and mini-golf 600 metres away, plus roughly 3 km to the grocery store in the middle of the island. Grab a bike and head to Kilesand for a refreshing swim, or simply enjoy the beach right next to the harbour.
