About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Ballen Marina is Samsø's largest and most visited marina, with around 9,200 guest visits a year. Ballen Havn is Samsø's largest and most visited harbour and has around 9,200 guest arrivals a year. The marina is located on the southern part of Samsø's east coast and is divided into two basins – an outer harbour for deep-draft vessels and an older inner harbour with a crab pier for the smallest boats.
The largest vessels able to enter have a length of 85 m, a width of 9 m and a draft of 3.5 m. Northwesterly, northerly and northeasterly winds can cause up to 1.5 m of high water, while south-southwesterly winds can cause up to 1.0 m of low water, and a speed limit of 3 knots applies within the harbour. There is an anchorage north of the harbour. The sailing season normally runs from 1 April to 31 October, during which the marina has permanent staff for security, cleaning and maintenance.
All piers offer shore power and fresh water, as well as petrol, diesel and oil, and the marina has both a slipway and a 500 kg mast crane. Guests can use the marina's recycling stations for waste, and toilets, showers and a washing machine are also available. The marina further offers parking areas and a playground, making it a great stop for families.
