About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 27 September 2026Hafen Strande is the municipal harbour in Ostseebad Strande, the first marina on the western shore of the Kieler Außenförde as you enter from the sea. Once an old fishing harbour, it is now a popular marina with seven piers (three of them floating) and 350 berths for sailing and motor boats, with a water depth of 2.6-4.0 metres in berths measuring 10-12 m in length and 3-5 m in width. The harbour is sheltered from the wind and can be entered day and night.
Free guest berths are marked with a green flap at the pier. The harbour has two slipways – between piers 6 and 7 and at the south slipway (pier 1) – where congestion can occur when the sailing clubs' training groups launch their boats; watch out for inexperienced sailors. Slipway use costs 10 euros for hauling out and launching, payable to the harbourmaster or in cash in an envelope through the harbour house letterbox. Divers south of the stone breakwater should also be watched for.
The harbour offers modern sanitary facilities, free wifi and a welcoming harbour house. There is a ship and mast crane, a fuel berth, and a boatyard run by the Kieler Yacht-Club for repairs and servicing.
It's only a few metres from the harbour to the bathing beach, restaurants and public transport. At the beach you'll find beach bistros, beach chairs and a gently sloping shoreline inviting swimming and beach life in the Strander Bucht.
