About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Jyllinge Fiskerihavn is the old fishing harbour in Jyllinge, situated on the eastern shore of Roskilde Fjord, roughly midway between Roskilde and Frederikssund. The fishing village of Jyllinge was once one of the larger fishing settlements in the southern part of the fjord, and as early as 1870 two stone piers were extended and reinforced into a basic harbour, which was further deepened and expanded in 1906. Today only a single commercial fishing vessel still operates from here, while a much larger marina with room for around 400 leisure boats has since been built to the south of the old harbour, and a smaller privately owned marina lies on its north side.
The old fishing harbour stands apart from other harbours because it has never been developed into a marina for leisure boats. Here you can experience a distinctive atmosphere with fishermen, fishing sheds, houses and fishing nets in a setting still shaped by fishing on Roskilde Fjord. A walk through the charming old town and along the old harbour offers a fine glimpse into the fjord's fishing heritage — take a stroll by and experience the authentic harbour setting while you're in the area.
