About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Østby Havn, also known as Østby Bådelaug, is a modest small-boat harbour on Roskilde Fjord in Skibby. The current harbour was built in 1979 by two local enthusiasts. The municipality now owns the land, but the boating club holds the right to use the harbour, and the place is naturally open to all visitors, not just members.
You reach the harbour from Østby via Hammervej, where the road is first paved and then continues as a 1.4 km non-private gravel track leading to the harbour itself.
As a visitor you are free to use the toilet as well as tables, benches and the barbecue area within the harbour grounds, and there is a waste bin for your rubbish so you can tidy up after yourself. Fresh drinking water is available from a tap at the clubhouse, and a slipway makes it possible to launch smaller boats. Rod fishing along the coast is permitted for everyone.
The harbour sits in scenic surroundings close to Nationalpark Skjoldungernes Land, making it an appealing spot for those seeking peace and community rather than a large guest marina. Within walking distance you'll find a manor house over 400 years old with an exhibition and paintings, a lake known for its rich birdlife, and a lookout tower by the old mill mound and by the church. Head for Østby Havn and experience the quiet fjord idyll and historic surroundings of Roskilde Fjord.
