About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Magerøya is an old trading place, idyllically situated on Trondheimsleia in Heim municipality in Trøndelag, about 30 km northwest of Kyrksæterøra. The site is today run as a guest harbour attached to Magerøya Gjestgiveri, offering a restaurant, climbing activities and cultural experiences on the island.
The approach is described as straightforward with good depth. You can moor at one of two large wooden floating docks fitted with outriggers, or anchor south of the floating dock. The boat dock has room for around 10-15 boats.
Ashore you'll find toilets, showers and fresh water for the boat, as well as shore power. There's a playground for children, and a pleasant barbecue area right by the dock. You can eat at the on-site restaurant and café, which also holds a licence to serve dinner with drinks.
The surroundings feature an old boathouse that today houses a small coastal museum, plus a climbing wall and cultural/nature trails through the forest. You can rent a kayak and paddle out to nearby islands, where wild sheep often graze, or cycle on the mainland past colourfully painted timber buildings. The waters around the island are rich in marine life, so bring a snorkel if you like. Tie up at Magerøya and experience this idyllic spot on Trondheimsleia.
