About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Protected inside Lyngholmen and Havneholmen lies Papperhavn, an old fishing harbour on the north side of Vesterøy in Hvaler municipality. This is a charming fishing harbour on Vesterøy that is very popular among boaters, and the harbour area is also very popular among photographers.
At Papperhavn you can refuel, though they only have diesel here. There are a few parking spaces here, but it is rarely full, so you can usually find a spot for the car when heading on to your cabin or boat.
From Papperhavn you can start a walking trip to Kuvauen, an area full of cultural monuments and fantastic nature. Just outside the harbour lies a fishing shed on a small skerry, one of Hvaler's best-known landmarks and photography subjects. Papperhavn is one of the few places on Hvaler with a clear view out to Struten lighthouse, which is unmanned and in recent years has served as an overnight lighthouse stay.
Tie up at this authentic fishing harbour, fill up on diesel, and take the walk out to Kuvauen for the view of Struten lighthouse.
