About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Aarsdale Havn is a well-protected combined fishing and pleasure harbour on Bornholm's east coast, between Nexø and Svaneke. The harbour was founded in 1869 and is one of the island's oldest fishing hamlets, where active commercial fishing still takes place.
The entrance is narrow and winding, and the harbour should only be entered during the day in bright, clear visibility and not in onshore winds, as compass variation and strong current combined with poor visibility can be dangerous. Boats registered in the harbour have right of priority, and it can be hard to get a guest berth in peak season, but visiting yachters are welcome in all basins.
On the quay you'll find new toilets and showers as well as a washing machine and dryer. The grocery shop and meeting place "Høkeren" sits right on the waterfront and offers free wifi to the harbour's guests. There is also a boatbuilder in the harbour, and a launching ramp nearby.
A stroll ashore takes you to the island's largest Dutch windmill from 1877, which still grinds flour, and an active herring smokehouse where you can taste Bornholm's smoked fish. There is also a workshop turning Bornholm granite into jewellery, a sea kayak centre, and a beach known for its distinctive reddish Aarsdale gravel. Tie up in Aarsdale and experience the genuine atmosphere of one of Bornholm's oldest fishing hamlets.
