About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Hvide Sande Lystbådehavn is located in the small town of Hvide Sande, built around an artificial canal linking Ringkøbing Fjord to the North Sea out in the Holmsland Dunes. Hvide Sande is a large and active harbour, counted as Denmark's fifth-largest fishing port, so life at the pontoons unfolds side by side with fishing and offshore industry.
As a sailor you can find a berth either in Sydhavnen outside the lock or in Fjordhavnen – also known as "Æ gammel havn" or "Tyskerhavnen" – inside the lock. The harbour can be entered day and night, but if you're unfamiliar with the place it's advisable to contact the lock keeper by phone or on VHF channel 16 before approaching from the sea; note also that the buoys marking the entrance are not always fully reliable. Most berths have poles at the stern, so you moor bow-in towards the bridge, while a couple of spots allow alongside mooring; berths on the west side are longer than those on the east side. As a guest sailor you'll experience an open, active harbour where you get right up close to the harbour's daily life.
The harbour offers toilets, showers, fresh water and shore power at the berths, waste disposal and pump-out for holding tanks, plus a laundry. You can bunker diesel and petrol, use the slipway and mast crane, and there are workshop facilities for repairs. For provisions there's a kiosk and a supermarket, and you can rent bikes and get wifi access.
